japanese food fair.

Went to 1U earlier for dinner at Chili's and saw that they have this Japanese Food Fair going on in the center court. Can't resist to sink my teeth into awesome goodness of miso soup, corn + wine candies, baked scallops, and some (a lot of) yummilicious tit-bits, so I just bought whatever that I like. The total bill ranked up to about 70MYR.

Am so broke.

But still... I'm caving for that CALPIS SODA. Ugh. Should've grabbed that along.

mooncake festive.

Since everyone's hyped up over mooncakes lately, my mum decided to jump into the bandwagon and bought some mooncakes as gifts for my dad's business associates. She went from Casahana to Baker's Cottage to Kam Lun Tai and bought more than fifteen mooncakes like they're all on sale or something (they are actually, up to 37% discount or a buy 4 free 1 promo). Managed to persuade my mum to buy us some as well. I just loooooooove the Creamy Milk Tea one from Baker's Cottage. It tastes exactly like Old Town's Xi Mut Milk Tea. Srsly. Highly recommended!

Journeyed back to Ipoh early in the morning because we've made an appointment with our family hair stylists. Can't decide whether I'd like to have my hair colored or not, but in the end, I did. Went from blackjet to chestnut brown. Latest pic:

Brother suddenly (no, it's actually planned) decided to treat us to dinner because he's just gotten his first month salary so yeah, let's ode to that! Heh. Dad wanted to try dining at MP Steamboat which has been around for like a quarter of a century (I lied) and serves fusion foods so bro drove us all there. Atmosphere in there is okay, not too posh or anything, just better-than-your-average steamboat restaurant. The price is sky high so we didn't have steamboat. We settled for ala-carte which consists of mainly western. Not gonna comment much and gonna let my piccas do all the talking, aight?

All in all, the food are all nice, especially the aussie grilled lamb. -drools- We even ordered a second serving for the lamb to be shared among all five of us. My Italian spinach flat noodle is so-so, and I didn't even manage to finish it because I was too full. In the end, I gave it away to my sister and took her grilled lamb. Heh. And the juices... ah, refreshing. I love my dad's carrot juice! The gigantic mixed fruit juice that me, my sister and brother shared wasn't that gigantic at all. Just 750ml, which is not enough for the three of us to drink. -sadface-

Total bill is about 150MYR which divides fairly to about 30MYR per person. Not cheap but not too expensive either. Will definitely go back there again the next time. -lol-

four places.

Went to 1U, The Curve, IKANO and IKEA today; four places in maybe 4 hours. A pretty amazing feat I'd say, though we went to 1U just to drop off Rainbow for his grooming in the first place before heading over to The Curve for dinner and shopping. Heh. I actually wanted to go for Penang food but it seems like my sister doesn't so we ended up at Sakae Sushi instead. We prefer Sushi Zanmai to Sakae Sushi but what to do, there's no Sushi Zanmai in The Curve! The only thing I like about Sakae Sushi is when you can personally order your food through the computer. It's fun, in a way. So... food piccas anyone? ;)

I wonder when I'm gonna finish reading all three. Probably a few months? Haha. Reading pace has been going really slow lately, like a snail. But I like books by Jodi Picoult. I actually wanted to buy the other one titled 'My Sister's Keeper' which had been made into a movie but it's sold out. -sadface- These three will do for now. Heh.

I'd like to write more about my shopping experiences at IKEA and IKANO but meh, just the same old story. Walked around, browsed around and that's it. Though mum bought a few stuffs from IKEA and I bought myself some compartment separators for my new wardrobe which costs 39.90MYR. So expensive but so useful. -sweatdrops-

din tai fung 2 & laptop shopping.

On Saturday, we went to MidValley with the intention to help my sister to buy herself a new laptop. Dell, she wants, so we bought my brother along because he's the tech-savvy one in the family as usual. We planned to have dinner at the food court, buy the laptop, walk around and then go home. What we didn't expect was a super huge existing crowd in MidValley itself due to break fast because it's 7PM already when we arrived. This is the first time I've seen a sea of people this huge that it feels even hard and tiring to walk around. The good mood I was in, was washed away after a while.

Because of the super big crowd at the food court, we couldn't find any tables and decided that no, we don't want to dine in there. We're gonna dine somewhere were people are scarce which is like, impossible because it's a Saturday. The only option we have is non-halal outlets. So we walked around deciding where to go. At first, we were queuing up for ZEN Sushi but when it was our turn, me and my sister decided that we don't want sushi. So, we moved to the back and got in line for Din Tai Fung instead. Talk about indecisiveness. The queue for Din Tai Fung was long too, and we had to wait for like, 20 minutes until it's our turn. We were given a number and was told to wait, and while waiting, we get to order what we want with the order chit.

There were teas for us to drink while waiting too. Ah, good service. Plus, there's this cool Taiwanese (we assume she is by the way she talk and her foreign face) waitress who's serving us outside so it's not that bad. Heh. Once inside, the food arrived quickly. We ordered a lot of stuffs since it's my parents first time there and I managed to take piccas before they dig in. Here's most of them, the only one missing are the aromatic teas.

All in all, the whole meal was satisfying and summed up to about 150MYR, which means 30MYR per person. The price was a bit hefty but we're all foodies so it's okay. We like trying out new foods anyway. -lol- By the way, the uniforms in DTF looks quite nice. I wish I could wear that once.

Also, my sister didn't manage to buy her laptop in the end because my brother remembered that he has a friend who works in a computer shop who's willing to send him a list of refurbished laptops on demand. Since my sister wants to save a little, she decided to wait for the list. While me, on the other hand, is deciding whether I should be buying myself a MacBook or a Dell. Hmmm.

tonight, tonight.

So many things happened tonight. First, D broke up with Z (as in, my sister broke up with her boyfy). I hope she's okay. She'll be okay because she's strong and she has a family who supports her in whatever she does except for when she's gotten herself a not-so-suitable boy. I bet my mum's the most relieved among all four of us. Her boyfriend is okay, but still, maybe a little towards the immature side? I don't know. He's twenty-two and he's younger than my sister. Anyway, I wish them a happy life ahead and just, please, find someone who treats you good enough, someone who loves you more than you love her. Love rocks! -grins-

Second, I got a call from Dehv when I was preparing to bath, asking me if I want to update her company's website. Everything's awkward when she called. She talked to me, asked a bit and then handed the call to her marketing consultant, Christine. And there I was, standing in the middle of my room without the fan on, naked, and talking to a stranger. A woman, nonetheless, which makes everything even weirder.

Third, I successfully pried open a can of sardine using a borrowed knife, a stolen Starbucks cup and a spoon. Go me! I don't even know how I did it but honestly, was too hungry to care. The first stab that I took on the can already had the aroma filling my nostrils and yeah, I used violence. -evil- Nothing stands between me and my food, okay?

I wanted to post about what I had on Tuesday with W at Sunway Giza (it's my first time being there) but I'm too lazy to edit piccas. I'll just leave that to the next post. By the way, me and W saw a cute TB when we were browsing for discounted bed sheets. -laughs- I like how her hair looks and kept on asking W to grow it long. W doesn't seem amused. Heh.

sunway giza.

Referring to my previous post, I'm gonna blog about my experience at Sunway Giza today. W bought me to Sunway Giza on Tuesday but I was too lazy to go though after much persuasion from her, I tagged along as well. Bickered a bit on the way there because I kept on complaining of W being a reckless driver and yeah, road blind. We arrived there without entering the parking area because of some 'road flow problems' (hell yeah) and got pissed off when I saw W being so cautious of her new car being stolen. Double steering lock, and triple check on the door handles to make sure they're really locked. Damn sweat.

Anyways, my first impression of Sunway Giza was "Wow?" followed closely by, "OMG, there's a maid beer cafe in here!" because the first thing I saw when I walked in was the lit up fake trees lining up the entrance and then, cute girls in maid costumes. -laughs- I'm so gonna try out the cafe sometime in the future but not now. Probably the next yumcha session with fun people. Heh.

Full House at Sunway Giza practically grabs everyone's attention because of it's lifestyle decors and it's massive signboard which changes colors of rainbow. Very, very pretty. And no, I'm not really impressed because I've been in a few of it's branches before. Nothing new, but they do sell more stuffs in here compared to the one in Sunway Pyramid. I wanted to be seated in but W wants to smoke so we end up sitting outside instead. -sadface- Oh yeah, Full House's waitresses wear maid costumes too but they're not as cute as the beer cafe ones though one particular tall girl with good English did caught my attention. The mentioned waitress took our order, by the way. Lucky.

I ordered Curry Noodle because I was craving for spicy food (I initially wanted to visit the TomYam Restaurant a few shops away but decided against it because I don't want to have anything heaty but in the end... haih) while W ordered their Spaghetti Alfredo. As for drinks, I had myself a glass of Honeydew Milkshake and W had some sort of blackcurrant soda (I can't remember the name). Waiting time for the food and drinks to arrive is quite short. Not bad, or probably because it's a Tuesday night without so many customers.

And because I haven't taken any piccas in ages, I took a few of our food and drinks. So, here are the piccas:

The total bill was about 50MYR and when W saw it, she was surprised because according to her, it was cheap. A hidden meaning: Usually when I eat, it's always expensive food! -laughs- After dinner at Full House, we walked around to see some displayed furnitures and I saw this chair that I really liked. The picture is with W so I'm gonna upload after I take it from her phone. I so wanted to buy it but, I think it'll cost a lot. -cries- But it was so perfect for my new room. The color scheme fits perfectly! -sad- It's white and red, by the way.

After some furniture browsing, we walked around aimlessly and discovered a beer cafe names BOLA. According to my friend, the beer cafe was opened just in time to celebrate World Cup 2010. Cool, eh? There's a lot of new shops around and also, bedsheets! With discounts! I don't know why but I really like to buy bed sheets. I've dragged W to choose bedsheets with me when suddenly, out of nowhere, a cute TB came over and tell us about the discounts. Ah, love her hair. I wish W would cut it like that but she likes to shave her sides which I really hate. -hmph- If you're reading this, please let your hair grow longer!! Ah, that did it.

It's W's birthday today but I couldn't take leave from work (I feel really bad, to be honest) to accompany her. So, right after work, I suggested that we go to 1U and I'll treat her to something good. Contemplated for a long while before we settle for Sushi Zanmai.

To cut everything short, the dinner was great except for a little spilling accident which wasn't my fault (the little girl beside our table did it) and guess what? We even got a free dessert for the manager because W knows him. Plus, the pretty waitress who served us is the manager's girlfriend and yeah, W knows her too. -grins- She's really a good host. The last time we went, the queue was so long that we waited about thirty minutes and it still hasn't budge and she offered to take us in, which means, we skipped the queue. Ha, I love the girl. I wonder if she knew it's W's birthday today.

Anyways, the total bill was about 80MYR which my wallet bled but it was worth it I guess. Anything to make W happy? I don't know. I still haven't gotten her presents yet and we have a deal on what to get already. Heh.

Am lazy to blog today, but had a great dinner with my family earlier though it rained quite hard and we had trouble getting out of the car. Anyway, we went to this restaurant called Strawberry Fields which serves fusion food with reasonable prices. It's somewhere in USJ Taipan, on the way to Station One, tucked in between shops with a not so catchy green and bleached signboard. Oh, and it's painted in red.

Ordered a lot of food, each of us with different dishes and portions. The only thing we shared was the Tomyam Seafood. Yummmm. Here, piccas again (pardon me, I'm lazy today).

W wants to find a room for herself. We're moving out soon and won't be staying together anymore. The moving out date will be end of August. I hope she can find a new room soon enough. -smiles-

bumbu bali.

Took annual leave on both days this week (because there's something that I need to settle with my family), and on Wednesday, had dinner with mum, sis and her boyfriend, Z. Dad wasn't in KL and brother didn't want to follow us out so he stayed at home with Rainbow. My brother always misses out on all the good food, poor thing. Anyway, the four of us went for dinner at Bumbu Bali, Puchong. I've always wanted to go there, like, since five years ago (when I was still in uni, mind you) but never got the chance to. So this time, without hesitation, I whisked them over in my sister's car and had my wish come true. -laughs- I feel like Cinderella all of a sudden, after the previous sentence. Heh.

The first thing that got me disappointed when we arrived was the menu, and it wasn't until my sister and Z pointed it out that I noticed. I never knew that Bumbu Bali was actually Ole-Ole Bali in disguise! Or rather, the other way round. They have the exact same menu, though a little difference in their prices. Bummer. I thought Bumbu Bali was another Balinese restaurant worth drooling over because I've always heard positive reviews about it from my friends and have always wanted to try it out. But now that it's actually the same restaurant as Ole-Ole Bali in Sunway, there's nothing to hype over it I guess. Because, I always go to Ole-Ole Bali! -weak laugh-

Still, the interior design is a bit different from Ole-Ole Bali and the exotic decors by the side really triggered my photographer instinct. Too bad I didn't bring my DSLR! -disappointed again- But! I've got my Nokia E71 which still takes nice pictures. Here, piccas. Most of them are pretty decent and clear except for the last three ones which I had to use flash on them because the they dimmed the lights. Bad quality for the three. Meh.

Because the dish portions in Bumbu Bali are expected to be the same as Ole-Ole Bali, so we just ordered three dishes to be shared among the four of us. Got all of us full by the end of the meal and was happy about it. The final bill total was about 90MYR which we split into four. I paid for my mum and me 50MYR which Z paid with his credit card for his share and my sister's.

Though I love Bumbu Bali's overall atmosphere and all, I still say that Ole-Ole Bali's food tastes better. Perhaps their head chef is over at Sunway's branch? I don't know, but yeah, will go back to Ole-Ole Bali instead of Bumbu Bali next time. -grins-
