baking lesson with doris

I mentioned about baking cookies last Sunday in my previous post and said that I'm gonna blog about it if it goes well (which it did - of course!), so here is the post, dedicated entirely to my sister for her baking cookies lesson. Muacks.

First, we start off with preparing the ingredients and equipments needed. For my sister's personal recipe, she'll need ingredients like eggs, baking powder, flour, butter, chocolate chips, vanilla essence, cocoa powder, grounded walnuts and sugar. As for the equipments, she has the weight, blender and electric mixer all ready to serve her. The utensils that she uses are usually measuring spoons, baking pans, mixing bowls and cooling racks. Now that we have everything ready, let's get started!

Chocolate chips, eggs, baking powder...

The label says all.

Measuring spoons.

My sister prefer to use walnuts rather than almonds. Since there's only grounded almonds sold, she decided to buy a packet of walnuts and cut them herself.

You'll need at least this much of walnuts for around 100 pieces of cookies but that depends entirely on the baker. I personally don't like nuts, so I asked her not to put in so much for my sake.

Put two cubes of butter into the mixer. Oh, the calories.

Measuring the sugar.

Pouring the sugar into the blender so that well, it's blended. She wants to blend it until it become icing sugar. More cotton-like, she said. Blend it for about a few minutes.

Then, proceed to pour the now icing sugar into the mixer together with the butter and mix.

Mixing in progress.... Brrrrrrr....

While the electric mixer does it's job, crack four eggs in a mixing bowl and pour in a few drops of vanilla essence.

After getting the eggs ready, pour in into the mixture in the mixer slowly so that it blends reeeeeally well.

Next, measure the flour.

Add a bit of baking powder on top of the flour, followed by a generous amount of cocoa powder for the coloring.

Throw everything into the mixer...

... and mix!

Add in the whole packet of chocolate chips while mixing, the more the better!

After making sure that the mixture is all mixed well, scoop them out spoon by spoon and line them up nicely on the baking pan. Of course, you can do big ones or small ones depending on your spoon size but it is recommended that you make them small because they'll raise up in the oven later.

Put the baking pan into a preheated oven and wait until they raise and turn brown.

They should be done after about 10 minutes if you set your oven to a 170°C degrees heat. Then, take them out and line them up on a cooling rack so that they will turn crunchy and nice. Let them cool down before storing them away, eat them or give way to your friends/relatives as gifts.

The final result: Baked walnut with chocolate chips cookies! ♥♥♥♥

P/S: This post doesn't teach how much each ingredients should measure because my sister won't allow her secret recipe to be leaked out. Anyways, there are tons of online tutorials available so, good luck to those who'd like to try their hands on baking some. -lol-
